somebody please stop me

unplug.

for the past 2 weeks, we have been trimming things up to make room for Molly’s Day Mom in the budget, and Lord help me, i am about to make the call to unplug from satellite television.

unlike a cable relationship, this is a more permanent, heartbreaking occurence. they have to come over and dig the DISH out of your frozen yard. there’s really no going back.

seth and i (read: Seth) have wanted to do this for a while now, but suddenly we (read: I) have the courage to cut the cord. we can access all the shows we watch online for free, of course, but there are several things i am worried about.

no more DVR.

no more brainless background noise.

no more commercials.

can i still watch Teen Mom?

and what are my husband and i going to do at dinner now? talk with one another? huddle around the laptop and spill wine all over the couch?

these are the sacrifices we make for our children.

Yup, Teen Mom is on MTV.com.

And now I’m sad you didn’t post the cell phone thing before I re-upped my contract.

Do it. Half of what’s on PBS is pretty good. When it’s not, reading or talking are actually pleasant options!

You can still take my advice, but unfortunately I can’t take yours. We just locked in for 2 more years with Cingular with sweet looking phones that we don’t know how to use.

Glad to know you’re considering it too. Mark wants to axe the Dish in September after our 2 year is up (so we don’t have to pay $200 to cancel!!), but I’m hesitant. And he is when he really thinks of it. But an extra $50 a month will buy how many diapers? Ah, the sacrifices : )
Molly is a super cutie. Someday hopefully she can meet our little one!

    Hi, LT!
Funny, but we just turned our “cable” back on after 17-plus years. It went off when the babies started coming, and now that they’re 15 and 17, I buckled!
Guess what? I don’t think I missed a thing all those years on TV. But the “sacrifice” sure was worth it when it came to adjusting our budget for the little ones’ sake….

Whoops! That was me, not anonymous :)
