Soliciting parenting advice

I know it hasn’t been that long, but I think it’s time to wean her off the pacifier.

I have a 4-year-old English Bulldog who is soothed by a pacifier. We were against pacifying her with a Soothie at first, but then we found that it kept her happy and quiet at nap time. Boy was that a huge mistake. Now the thing is constantly in use.

Whenever I put her down for a nap, she cries and fusses until I put the paci in her mouth. When it falls out, she digs and roots for it until she can get it back in her possession. As a result, no one in our house is able to sleep.

I’m very worried about what effect this will have on her dental health. I think she is starting to form an underbite.

The worst part is that she tries to take the paci (not hers!) from other children’s mouths.

What is the best age to wean her off the paci and how best can I do it? Should we go cold turkey?
