I have been married to the Steter for 5 years today. Can you believe it?
This is a picture of laughing at the altar on Aug. 7, 2004. And I hate to break it to you, but the fun has pretty much never stopped.
Plus this morning, Seth let me sleep in five extra minutes — one for each year of marriage he has endured!
I could talk about our adventures — most of the stories involve runaway livestock or hurling each other across dangerous chasms, by the way — or I could talk about the real stuff our marriage has brought me through, but instead, I’ll go to the bathroom. I need you to come into the bathroom at the Teter household for just a quick minute.
This morning, as he was getting out of the shower, Seth locked eyes with Maybel, who was staring at him like she normally does before she licks one of our freshly showered legs. It’s a thing that happens. I never said it wasn’t weird.
I was brushing my teeth.
Seth continued to dry his face while she looked at him longingly, waiting for him to step out of the shower. This went on until Seth paused, lowered the towel, leaned toward her and whispered:
“Tell me the secrets of your heart,” he said.
Like, that is it.
That is why I married this man. If it weren’t for him, my life would be 85 percent less amazing. At least.
I love you, Steter!
